Laura Reznek hat noch nie gerne über sich selbst gesprochen. Wenn man ihrer Musik jedoch genau zuhört, hört man ein Gemurmel von nackter Offenbarung – Fragmente von Trauer, Wut und komplizierter Freude, die sich durch ihre Melodien ziehen. Auf ihrer neuen Mikro-EP Leap Year (Birthday Cake Records) ringt Laura mit der Zeit, in der alles und nichts passiert, und dem Verrat der Langeweile inmitten eines lebensverändernden Verlustes. Laura überlagert akribische Arrangements mit gefundenen Klängen und erschafft plüschige Klangtexturen, die gelegentlich etwas Dunkleres anklingen lassen.
Lauras musikalische Praxis ist in interdisziplinärer Zusammenarbeit und einer hartnäckigen DIY-Ästhetik verwurzelt. Zu ihren Lieblingsorten, an denen sie je gespielt hat, gehören ein Waschsalon, ein Glockenturm und ein leckgeschlagenes Boot. Ihre Musik war auch bei BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6, CBC’s After Dark, in den NACC Top 200 und in Film und Fernsehen zu hören, darunter Tiny Pretty Things von Netflix und Family Law von Global. Lauras letztes Album, Agrimony, wurde von der Kritik hoch gelobt.
Zu Lauras bevorstehenden Projekten gehören die Veröffentlichung ihres ersten vertonten Kurzfilms HIDE (Regie: James Alexandrou), das Hörspiel/Podcast Expectant (Regie: Pippa Johnstone) und die Premiere ihrer Komposition für das zeitgenössische Tanzstück Hidden Playground im National Arts Centre of Canada. Im Jahr 2024 wird ihre erste abendfüllende zeitgenössische Tanzshow (Agrimony, choreografiert von Sophie Dow), die teilweise am National Ballet of Canada entwickelt wurde, im Scotiabank Dance Centre in Vancouver uraufgeführt und anschließend in ganz Kanada und im Vereinigten Königreich auf Tournee gehen.

TYGERMYLK ist die in Hastings ansässige multidisziplinäre Indie-Pop-Künstlerin Hayley Harland. Dieses neue, vom PRSF finanzierte Projekt, ihr erstes komplettes Album, ist ein aufregendes Comeback nach mehreren Kehlkopfoperationen und einer schwierigen chronischen Krankheit. Ihr saftiger, vielschichtiger Sound und ihre einzigartigen lyrischen Perspektiven, die bereits in Glastonbury, auf dem Isle of Wight Festival und bei BBC Introducing (South) zu hören waren, werden nun endlich auf LP veröffentlicht.
TYGERMYLK tauchte erstmals 2017 beim Brighton Pride mit der Debütsingle “What God Would Keep Us Apart” auf, einer herzzerreißenden Ballade, die auf einer wahren Geschichte aus Harlands Teenagerzeit basiert. Harlands Arbeit befasst sich mit aktuellen Themen wie LGBTQIA+-Rechten, Sichtbarkeit von Behinderungen und der Umwelt. Ihre Stimme kommt direkt aus dem Herzen und vermittelt ein starkes Gefühl von Mut, Solidarität, Repräsentation und dringend benötigter Unterstützung für ein marginalisiertes Publikum.
Im Jahr 2021 wechselte Harland zu einem kommerzielleren Pop-Stil und war Co-Autorin, Co-Produzentin und Sängerin des Soundtracks für die Amazon Original-Serie “Flack” mit Anna Paquin in der Hauptrolle. Ihre Arbeit an diesem Projekt wurde als “außergewöhnlich” beschrieben.
Die Offenherzigkeit, die TYGERMYLK ausmacht, ist eine Fähigkeit, die sie durch jahrelanges Busking auf der Londoner Southbank und in der U-Bahn erlangt hat. Die Ehrlichkeit, die sie bei ihren Auftritten auf der Straße gelernt hat, überträgt sich perfekt auf das Album, das durch reich strukturierte Arrangements und eine durchdachte Produktion aufgewertet wird.

Laura Reznek has never liked to talk about herself. If you listen closely to her music, however, you’ll hear murmurs of naked disclosure — fragments of grief, anger, and complicated joy riddled through her melodies. In her new micro EP Leap Year (Birthday Cake Records), Laura wrestles with time during which everything and nothing happens, and the betrayal of boredom in the midst of life-changing loss. Laura layers meticulous arrangements with found sounds, crafting plush sonic textures that occasionally bristle with something darker.
Laura’s musical practice is rooted in interdisciplinary collaboration and a stubborn DIY aesthetic. While her favourite venues she’s ever played include a laundromat, bell tower, and leaky boat, her music has also been heard on BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6, CBC’s After Dark, charting on the NACC top 200, and in film and television including Netflix’s Tiny Pretty Things and Global’s Family Law. Laura’s last full-length album, Agrimony, received widespread critical acclaim.
Laura’s upcoming projects include the release of her first scored short film HIDE (dir. James Alexandrou), radio play/podcast Expectant (dir. Pippa Johnstone), and the debut of her composition for contemporary dance piece Hidden Playground at The National Arts Centre of Canada. In 2024, her first full length contemporary dance show (Agrimony, choreographed by Sophie Dow) which was partially devised at the National Ballet of Canada, will premiere at Vancouver’s Scotiabank Dance Centre and subsequently tour across Canada and throughout the UK.

TYGERMYLK is Hastings based multidisciplinary Indie-Pop artist Hayley Harland. This new project funded by PRSF, their first full length album, is an exciting come-back after multiple throat surgeries and challenging chronic illness. Their juicy many-layered sound and unique lyrical perspectives, previously heard at Glastonbury, The Isle of Wight Festival and BBC Introducing (South), years of writing work, is finally being committed to LP.
TYGERMYLK first surfaced in 2017 at Brighton Pride with debut single “What God Would Keep Us Apart”, a heartbreaking ballad based on a true story from Harland’s teen years. Harland’s work tackles topical issues such as LGBTQIA+ rights, disability visibility, and the environment. Her voice comes straight from the heart, generating a powerful sense of courage, solidarity, representation and much needed support for marginalised audiences.
In 2021, flexing into a more commercial pop style, Harland co-wrote, co-produced & performed on the soundtrack for Amazon Original series “Flack” starring Anna Paquin. Their work on the project has been described as “exceptional”.
The open-heartedness at TYGERMYLK’s core is a skill they gleaned from years of busking on London’s Southbank and the Underground. The honesty she learned performing on the street translates perfectly to record, elevated by richly textured arrangements and thoughtful production.
