Steve Folk ist ein reisender Songwriter mit einem Unterschied. Er bringt eine einzigartige Mischung aus zum Nachdenken anregenden Liedern mit einer Reihe originaler Landschaftsbilder, wo immer er auftritt. Er nennt dieses Streben gerne “total color touring”.

Musikalisch wurde er mit Künstlern wie Ralph McTell, Neil Young und Paul Simon sowie mit modernen Künstlern wie Sun Kil Moon und Surfjan Stevens verglichen. Er lässt sich von der natürlichen Welt mit vielen seiner Songs inspirieren, die die Länder und Städte repräsentieren, die er bereist hat. Seine Songs haben eine ausgeprägte persönliche Note, die mit reichen und poetischen lyrischen Inhalten beladen ist.

Steve hat viele Platten unter verschiedenen Künstlernamen veröffentlicht, darunter Blabbermouth, Steve Thompson und Steve Folk. 2007 als Blabbermouth bei Hobgoblin Records unter Vertrag genommen; Steve veröffentlichte zwei Alben, “My Dancing Heart” und “Me and the Metronome”. Beide wurden mehrmals über das BBC-Netzwerk, einschließlich einiger Live-Sessions mit Janice Long und Sue Marchant, ausgestrahlt.

Im Jahr 2012 veröffentlichte Steve das Album “Ramble” unter seinem Geburtsnamen Steve Thompson mit Hilfe des in Großbritannien führenden Distributor Proper Music und des Produzenten Ian Faragher. Kurz nach der Veröffentlichung tourte Steve durch Europa, mit Shows in Italien, Spanien, den Niederlanden und Deutschland und verkaufte tausende Exemplare dieses Albums.

Unter dem neuen und aktuellen Namen Steve Folk veröffentlichte er 2016 “Black Sheep Bones” und ist heute einer der beliebtesten House Concert-Künstler Deutschlands, der mit 70 Konzerten die Nummer 1 des deutschen House Concert-Hubs sofaconcerts.org dominiert.
Seine Leidenschaft zur Malerlei wurde im letzten Sommer wieder aufgegriffen und er erzielte mit seinen Musikfans eine Reihe von Verkäufen. Seine Kunst spiegelt sein Songwriting wider; ausdrucksstark, furchtlos und farbenfroh.

Steve ist in vielerlei Hinsicht eine einzigartige Person, genauso wie seine Fähigkeit, als völlig unabhängiger Vollzeitkünstler zu gedeihen.

Steve Folk is a traveling songwriter with a difference; he brings with him a unique blend of thought provoking songs with an array of original landscape paintings wherever he performs; he likes to call this pursuit “total colour touring”.

Musically he has been likened to artists such as Ralph McTell, Neil Young and Paul Simon aswell as modern day artists such as Sun Kil Moon and Surfjan Stevens. He takes inspiration from the natural world around him with many of his songs representing the countries and the cities he has toured, his songs have a distinct personal touch that are heavily ladened with rich and poetic lyrical content.

Steve has many records under his belt, under various guises, including Blabbermouth, Steve Thompson and Steve Folk. Signed to the Hobgoblin Records label in 2007 as Blabbermouth; Steve released 2 albums “My Dancing Heart” and “Me and the Metronome” they both received a healthy dose of radio play through the BBC network including an number of live sessions with Janice Long and Sue Marchant, he played many UK Folk Festivals to support the release including main stages at Sidmouth and a key slot opening for Seth Lakeman at The Crawley Folk Festival, aswell as countless other appearances up and down the country.

In 2012 Steve self-released “Ramble” under his birth name Steve Thompson with help from the UKs leading distributor Proper Music and producer Ian Faragher, shortly after the release Steve began touring Europe with repeated shows in Italy, Spain, Netherlands and Germany, selling 1000s of copies at grassroot venues
and House Concerts.

He then released “Black Sheep Bones” in 2016 under the new and current name of Steve Folk, and is now one of the most popular House Concert artists in Germany dominating the number 1 German House Concert hub sofaconcerts.org with no less than 70 concerts under his belt on this network alone.
Steve’s love of painting reunited a year ago, he shunned his artistic career shortly after his graduation from Middlesex University in 1996, but his passion reignited just last summer and he has enjoyed a number of sales with existing fans of his music. His art reflects his songwriting; expressive, fearless and colourful.
